Break Boundaries in MSP

Caroline Kittle
Associate Systems Engineer, Medtronic
What problem(s) are you working to solve?
I am working towards making glucose a vital sign by developing a continuous glucose monitor for patients with Type 2 Diabetes that can inform patients how their behaviors impact their glucose levels and help them to better manage their disease.
What makes the Minneapolis and Saint Paul region (MSP) a great place to grow your career?
MSP is home to the Medtronic operational headquarters, providing thousands of jobs for engineers like me. It is a young, growing metropolis with plenty of opportunities for growing my network and expanding my career possibilities.
What do you think surprises people about MSP?
When friends and family visit from out of state, they are consistently surprised when they realize how much I love it here. There are so many things to do any time of year – from paddle boarding in the lakes in the summer to exploring ice castles in the winter. They also realize the people here really are that friendly.
What advice do you have for women engineers starting in their careers?
Don’t be afraid to try something new. I never would have imagined myself in this city/role a year ago, but I couldn’t be happier.
