Break Boundaries in MSP

What problem(s) are you working to solve?
At work I use data to inform business decisions to help customers better use financial services products. Outside of work, I spend a lot of time trying to explain what a savings account is to my younger brother.
What makes the Minneapolis and Saint Paul region (MSP) a great place to grow your career?
There are so many opportunities with large companies in a variety of industries. Plus, there is a top-tier public research university as well as many smaller colleges and universities. I also like that I can ride my bike to work.
What do you think surprises people about MSP?
There is so much variety in MSP. From hiking to music to food to sports to museums to comedy shows to coffee shops to biking to breweries to cat video festivals to book clubs. It’s sometimes hard to find a weekend to travel and visit another city without missing an event here in Minneapolis or Saint Paul.
What advice do you have for women engineers starting in their careers?
It’s okay to be different from your co-workers, just be genuine. I spent a lot of unnecessary time pretending to be interested in professional sports.
