Thousands of future business and community leaders descend on Minneapolis-Saint Paul every summer for internships. However, 2017 marked the start of something new.
Many of our region’s largest employers teamed up through Make It. MSP. to provide an unprecedented experience for summer interns that encouraged them to think about building their careers in this region.
More than 750 interns gathered at U.S. Bank Stadium to meet each other and discover what MSP has to offer. Throughout the afternoon, interns forged new connections with interns at other companies, talked with company representatives and heard from local leaders who highlighted some of the highlights that set this community apart. Stadium tours and interactive volunteer activities rounded out the day to help paint a picture of what it’s like to live and work here.
Through this effort, interns were able to experience how a summer internship in Minneapolis-Saint Paul looks a little different than anywhere else. When you intern at one of our local companies, you don’t just receive a hands-on professional experience that will help you find a job. You have the chance to connect to the boundless opportunities of 17 Fortune 500 companies and dozens of world-class institutions that can put you on the path towards developing an exciting and dynamic career with purpose while experiencing a phenomenal quality of life.
We work together in Minneapolis-Saint Paul. While this was a first time event, it’s representative of a long history of collaboration across companies to strengthen our community and develop our greatest asset – our people. And we’re just getting started in these bold new efforts to work together to welcome and connect interns to the area. Stay tuned for bigger and bolder efforts in 2018.
