What surprised you most about the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region?
It is not always cold! Ha ha, all jokes aside the amount of things there is to do in the Twin Cities! From spending the day outside at a lake to trying new restaurants or attending a concert, there is truly something for everyone.
Please share any highlights you experienced living and working in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region (specifically during your summer internship)?
Last summer I had the opportunity to get involved with Cookie Cart, a non-profit urban bakery that employs and develops youth in the Twin Cities. It was one of the most rewarding experiences and I cannot wait to help again this summer!
Describe any meaningful experiences you had during your internship.
During my internship, I had the privilege of being on a team with people who were responsible for developing a technology platform to simplify the lives of our cooperative clients. It was one of the best experiences to observe how technology can add value and improve lives.
What was it about the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region that made you want to relocate here?
Opportunities. The city is growing like crazy and that is definitely attractive to a young professional starting her career!
What advice do you have for future interns coming to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region?
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! Even though you are only an intern, reach out to people in your company and schedule informational interviews. I had over 20 informational interviews last summer and the knowledge I gained from those was invaluable in helping me navigate the company and discover my passions. Lastly, explore! There are so many different neighborhoods and areas of the cities that each have their own unique personality.
