The best-kept secret about summer in MSP is all of the amazing festivals! As soon as the weather gets nice (anything warmer than about 40 degrees is fair game) there are so many festivals that it’s hard to keep track of all of them.
My family looks forward to the local fish fry

The Mound Fire Department Fish Fry is always held on the first Saturday in June at the Mound Volunteer Fire Department. This event brings together the community for a delicious fish meal made by the firefighters themselves, a street dance, a silent auction and kids events such as face painting and a bounce house. This fish fry is incredibly meaningful for the community because the funds raised are used to purchase many items that benefit the area such as firefighting tools and equipment, fire station supplies and firefighter safety gear. My kids love the event and it is truly fun for the entire family!
There’s always a movie playing in the park

Having been living in the area for a number of years now, it is all about enjoying and appreciating the warm summer days. The best kept secret about summer in MSP is movies in the parks! It’s a simple concept but a huge plus for quality time, inexpensive, and literally no planning needed, you just show up. Well, maybe a little planning – don’t forget to bring munchies, a blanket/chair and bug spray 🙂
Your perfect fit is likely hiding across the street or around the corner
- Adam Hupach
- • NASA Scientist and State Project Coordinator
Saint Paul, MN (from Hutchinson, KS)
Your favorite activity will come from exploring. From the St Paul Farmers Market, Saints games, and Mears Park music festivals all within a block of each other to the Lynx moving to the Xcel this year, and the Minnesota Inline Skate Club exploring different parks, there are tons of events and they’re often practically on top of each other. So try something because even if it isn’t a prefect fit, your perfect fit is probably across the street or around the corner.
