Many of the most authentic relationships I have developed here in the Twin Cities all started with a simple introduction from a friend or co-worker. I have found that both homegrown Minnesotans and transplants alike have been open to providing me support, advice or friendship as I navigate making the area feel like home!

By getting out of my comfort zone and meeting as many people as I can. Opening up private spaces, whether mental or physical, goes a long way toward establishing genuine connections.
Most of my real connections come through my work and my many civic endeavors

Most of my real connections come through my work and my many civic endeavors…over time, I’ve met people I like, and I try to stay in touch, run into them, go to their things, and invite them to mine. I’ve even been able to hire some of my favorite people (without wrecking our friendship!). Also, no joke, getting a dog that needs to be walked helps to meet people in your neighborhood. Your dogs can play and you end up chatting and learning a lot about the other person – and they live nearby!
